As we explored the city, we found ourselves immersed in a community that values both its past and present. The people we met along the way were willing to share their stories, bringing unknown blessings to our group and enlightening us with the surprising history of this sleepy mountain town.

This sense of community became a pillar of our weekend, as we took a deep dive into our own stories and learned about each others experiences. It reminded us of the importance of fostering a supportive environment in our own homeschool community and mom tribe.

Highlights of Our Adventure

Our Hot Springs adventure was filled with memorable moments that brought us closer together. From exploring the historic downtown area to experiencing the therapeutic waters, each experience added a new layer to our shared story.

One of the highlights was our visit to the Gangster Museum, where we learned about the city's colorful past. This sparked engaging discussions about Hot Springs connection to Prohibition and major cities all across the country.

Another unforgettable experience was our hike through the nearby trails, where we marveled at the natural beauty of the Ouachita Mountains. These moments in nature were peaceful and brought us back to our youth providing a glimpse of the world through child's eyes.

Building Bonds Through Shared Stories

Ladies Trip 2025!

As we spent time together, we realized that sharing our personal stories was the key to building stronger bonds within our group. Each of us had unique experiences, challenges, and triumphs in our lives that effect the way we view the world, each other and homeschooling.

By opening up about our struggles and successes, we created a safe space for vulnerability and support. We found common ground in our shared experiences and learned valuable lessons from each other's perspectives.

This exchange of stories strengthened our friendships. We left Hot Springs feeling more connected and better equipped to support one another.

Fun and Games in the Heart of Nature

While our trip was emotionally and spiritually deep, we also made sure to incorporate plenty of fun and laughter. This section explores the engaging activities and games we enjoyed, including the hilarious "Grab the Mic" game and the creative "What's That Meme" challenge.

Engaging Activities

Homeschool activities are essential for keeping children engaged and excited about learning. During our trip, we brainstormed and tested various activities that could be easily adapted for our homeschool groups back home.

One activity involved creating art journals and collecting items for junk journaling, where we used concepts related to color, balance, texture, contact and emphasis. This not only honed our introspection skills but also provided a creative outlet for expressing our experiences.

Laughter with Grab the Mic

"Grab the Mic" became an instant favorite among our group. This impromptu game involved the gift of a random word to which you had to be the first to grab the mic and sing a full lyric that contained that word. This game ensured that friendly competition and boisterous laughter ensued well into the night.

The game not only provided endless laughter but also helped us break down barriers and become more comfortable with each other. It was a reminder that being silly and fun and unabashed can make the experience more enjoyable.

As we took turns "grabbing the mic," we discovered hidden talents and shared inside jokes that would become cherished memories of our trip.

Creativity with What's That Meme

The "What's That Meme" challenge tapped into our creative sides while keeping us in stitches. When a meme was presented each person had to submit a caption card. The goal was to make the person who was "it" choose your caption.

This activity reminded me that we all see things a little differently and that when we try to see the world through each others eyes we are all rewarded and better off for it.

The memes we created became references to hilarious moments, capturing the essence of our shared experiences and the bonds we formed.

Discovering History and Heritage

Hot Springs is a treasure trove of history and heritage. This section explores our visits to the fascinating Gangster Museum, the relaxing bath houses, and the beautiful hiking trails that allowed us to connect with nature and the past.

The Fascination of The Gangster Museum

The Gangster Museum of America in Hot Springs provided a captivating look into the city's notorious past. As we explored the exhibits, we were transported back to the 1920s and 30s, when famous gangsters like Al Capone frequented the area.

The museum's interactive displays and authentic artifacts sparked our imagination and led to discussions about the era's impact on American history. We found ourselves drawing parallels between the past and present, considering how society has evolved.

This experience reminded us of the importance of incorporating diverse historical perspectives into our homeschooling curricula, encouraging critical thinking and a deeper understanding of our nation's complex history.

Unwinding at the Bath Houses

No trip to Hot Springs is complete without experiencing the famous bath houses. The Visitor Center features a three story bath house where we participated in a self guided tour. The tour was interesting and enjoyable. We learned about the therapeutic practices of the 1930's as we turned this way and that way exploring the maze of treatment rooms, staterooms and community areas.

The historic Buckstaff Bathhouse, with its traditional bathing ritual, gave us a glimpse into the city's past as a health resort. We learned about the believed healing properties of the thermal springs and how they attracted visitors from all over the world.

This experience led to conversations about the differences between self-care then and now. We often wondered aloud what it would have been like to live during the time when these bathhouses were very much depended on as healthcare.

Hiking Trails and Nature's Beauty

The hiking trails around Hot Springs offered us a chance to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the area. As we walked through the lush forests and climbed to scenic viewpoints, we felt a deep connection to the environment and each other.

Our hikes became impromptu lessons, as we spotted deer and attempted to weave our way closer to the abandoned Army Hospital. We discussed the value of having access to nature so close to town and how many of the available trails were once part of the healthcare found in Hot Springs as well.

These moments in the great outdoors also provided opportunities for quiet reflection and meaningful conversations, strengthening the bonds within our group and renewing our passions.

As we concluded our trip, we realized that finding our people in the homeschooling community is crucial for success and personal growth. Our Hot Springs adventure had not only rejuvenated us but also provided us with new perspectives, ideas, and lasting friendships.
